Kelley Christie, Owner and Educator

Kelley has a background in Education and Finance where she has worked in the neuroscience field as well as teaching high school math. She has pursued her passions of working with kids outside through starting the Young Adventures Club while she was Vice President of the Green Mountain Club. She lead hikes for kids through the backcountry of Vermont for 6 years before relocating to Massachusetts. Her passion for connecting kids and nature led her to train with Angela Hanscom, occupational therapist and author of Balanced and Barefoot, in the backwoods of New Hampshire.  There, Kelley further developed skills for facilitating outdoor play, designing engaging and effective programs, and creating curriculum . Kelley loves all things outside including mountain biking, cross country skiing, downhill skiing, backpacking, wildflower and bird identification, and most importantly playing with her two daughters , husband, and dog in the woods that surround her. Kelley holds her Wilderness First Responder certification.

Jessie Carleton, Facilitator and Educator

Jessie holds a BFA in photography from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and is excited to bring art into the woods for unique, creative experiences. She spent a number of years working in art museums but after the birth of her first child, she realized her love for working with kids. Her oldest is constantly on the move and from an early age they started hiking and getting outside. Now with her two children, she and her husband are always looking for new hikes, lakes to swim in, and new adventures. They love searching for bugs, climbing rocks, and catching frogs! You can find Jessie in the woods with us at all of our programs along with her contagious energy for outdoor play. You can also find Jessie in the woods at the Discovery Museum in Acton, where she works and leads nature programs for kids.

Laura Kennedy, Facilitator and Educator

Laura holds a MS in Environmental Education and is the mother of two young children. She discovered her passion for working with children outside while sailing with middle school students on tall ships, as well as teaching pre-school and elementary aged students at a conservation center in New Hampshire. She loves watching kids discover the wonders of the world around them, and helping them discover and develop their strengths within. She enjoys hiking, camping, boating, knitting, and building forts and fairy homes with her own little ones. You can find Laura in the woods with us at all of our programs, where she brings her knowledge of our natural world and her passion for play right to the hands of the children.
